A Message from Jon

Dear reader,

Thank you for visiting my website.

As you probably know, I have lived in Yorkshire all of my life. I have been a trade unionist and member of the Labour Party since the 1960s. I am proud to represent our constituency and see my job as making sure that the voices of people in our area are heard and that the core Labour values that shaped our area are not forgotten.

I also see it as my responsibility as your representative to provide an office that knows the area, understands the problems people face and is sensitive to the goings on in the number of former mining villages I am elected by. I have a strong team of local people based in Parliament and, more importantly, in the centre of Hemsworth.

I have always been a Labour man who is not afraid to speak up for our area. I was recently appointed a the Prime Minister's Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) and in this role will take the opinions and issues I see in our constituency to the very heart of the Government.
