Local MP Jon Trickett was invited by constituents Ian and Ben Kidson to visit their farm in Badsworth.
The farm had previously been a dairy farm, producing thousands of gallons of milk delivered directly to customers' doors but with the fall off in demand for door step deliveries the family have had to adapt to find new ways of continuing to farm the land.
The Kidsons are now involved in a project to produce bio mass which in turn will produce green energy. With a grant from the former government they were able to purchase seeds to grow Miscanthus grass which is then harvested and turned into electricity at Drax Power Station.
After the visit Jon said:
“It was great to meet Ian and Ben Kidson. They are inspiring individuals who have shown a commitment to keep working the land by using it to help meet the need for green fuel. I wish them every success in their efforts”
