A 12 point action plan has been announced by the Government that will help those pubs that have been struggling through the downturn.
The new help will include funding for business support to make pubs more successful and help communities buy into pubs. Support for struggling membership clubs will be introduced alongside the slashing of “beer ties”, and the conclusion of a consultation to cut the requirement of music licences in certain venues.
New powers will also be in place for councils to intervene before a pub is demolished to allow communities to have their say on land use. Planning laws will also allow pubs to branch out into new commercial ventures, such as restaurants, gift shops and books shops, without the additional expense and time of seeking council approval.
