ARE YOU GETTING ALL YOUR ARE ENTITLED TO?

Many individuals are missing out on entitlements, particularly the elderly. Specialist benefit and debt advice is available so no one should be losing out, it is just a matter of knowing where you can get the advice.  A number of agencies have approached Jon
making him aware of the service they offer:

  • The Pension Service visit people 60 and over in their home to advise on benefit elegibility.  Jon's constituents who want to take up this offer should ring the constituency office on 01977 722290 and provide contact details and Jon will then pass this on to the Pension Service.

  • Helping-hands give one to one advice.  10 am until 12 noon - Tuesday, The Grange, Hemsworth, Wednesday, Langthwaite House, South Kirkby, Thursday, Community Centre, Kinsley or call 01977 611075 between 2 pm and 6 pm Monday to Friday.

  • Springs Advice Centre - Outreach - Offer housing, debt and benefits advice at the following locations:  Hemsworth Community Initiative - every Wednesday, 10.30 am - 12.30 pm  Citizens Advice Bureau, Pontefract - every other Thursday - call the Bureau for an appointment on 0870 12 12 044

Pre-Pay Energy Meters

Often, pre-payment meters charge for energy at higher rates than those who pay a quarterly bill or online. The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change has said that energy companies must address this or face legislation.

Do you think people on pre-payment meters should have to pay more for their energy?
