Contact Jon TrickettJon Trickett MP has called on the West Yorkshire Fire Chiefs to convene public meetings in South Elmsall and Hemsworth to consult on their proposals to close the towns’ Fire stations. In his submission to the consultation process Jon Trickett has expressed his worries about how the closure could impact on response times for the separate communities currently covered by Hemsworth and South Elmsall Fire Stations. He has also called on the Fire Chiefs to clarify what has motivated the decision; whether it really is about enhancing fire safety or operating within national financial constraints. The consultation process is ongoing until the 9th December 2011 and submissions should be sent to Mr Stephen Hardy, Consultation Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority, Oakroyd Hall, Bradford, Birkenshaw, BD11 2DY or Stephen.hardy@westyorkshirefire.gov.uk Jon Trickett said: “I urge everyone to take part in this consultation process. Whilst I have called on the Fire Authority to organise public meetings it is important that people make written submissions to the Fire Authority”.
