Yesterday I went into Wakefield to meet the Election officials,

It is a little known fact that once the election is called, there are no longer any MPs. So I have not been an MP now for more than week.

But equally, you are not officially a candidate until the election officials accept that all the paper work is in order. So I went along with my brilliant election agent David Bond. We had one heart stopping moment when the officials were not sure that my papers were in order. But after a few minutes, it was confirmed that everything is in order.

So there you are. No longer an MP. But proud as anything to be a Labour Candidate. Now it’s over to the wonderful Yorkshire people of our area to decide if I am their choice to serve them again for another term in the House of Commons.
