Have you received a text message from HMRC asking you for your bank details?

We have received notification that many constituents are being contacted, via text, by an organisation who claims to be from HMRC informing the recipient that they are in line for a refund. The text asks you to click on a link and it then asks you to provide them with bank details so they can send the refund.

HMRC do not contact you by email about your HMRC account.
HMRC do would never inform you over a text that you have a refund.

Do not respond to the text and report the incident to action fraud by accessing the Action Fraud web site.
